Mike retired from the Humberside Police in 1996 having completed
31 years service, during which time he served in a number of departments, but
for 25 years, he read and lectured on all subjects in Traffic Legislation,
running patrol officer courses within the force as well as courses for the
Institute of Road Transport Engineers and Certificate of Professional
Competence courses for the Road Haulage Industry.
In 1984 he specialised further in three areas, Agricultural
Vehicles, Tachographs and the Carriage of Dangerous Substances.
In respect of Agricultural Vehicles along side the NFU he has
become the authority in the country and travels extensively lecturing on the
subject to various organisations including the NFU, Agricultural Colleges,
Police Forces, Department of Transport, agricultural organisations including
the Royal Estates at Windsor, and agricultural vehicle manufacturers both in
this country and abroad, including JCB, John Deere, Massey Ferguson and
BAGMA.
In respect of Tachographs, he is a qualified analyst. During 1997
and 1998 was a Beta Tester for a computer analysing programme now used by the
enforcement agencies.
For a number of years he has analysed tachoghraph charts for
police court cases and also for a number of small companies.
Since 1986 he has run Certificate of Professional Competence
courses at the York College of Technology as well as for a private
organisation, and since 1999 he has both written and marked examination papers
for OCR the examining body in this subject. He now runs CPC Courses privately
in the York area at very competative rates.
Since 1999 he has also been running courses for the Department of
Transport on the subject of the Carriage of Dangerous Substances.
