 
Since 1985 all vehicles and equipment found on the farm now come
under the Road Traffic Legislation.
There are some strange anomalies in respect of such items, incl.
Taxation, registration, driving licences, operator licensing to name but a few.
Since 1984 Mike has specialised in the law relating to the use of
Agricultural Vehicles on the Road and lectures to various authorities country
wide, including the NFU, Department of Transport, Police Forces, Vehicle
Manufacturers including John Deere, Massey Ferguson and JCB as well as numerous
farming organisations. and Agricultural Colleges.
He is now a consultant for various manufacturers and
organisations including, JCB, BAGMA, John Deere, Unimog, Massey Ferguson, and
The Department of Transport.
He has written a book in an attempt to help people to understand
the law relating to the use of such vehicles when they are taken onto the
Highway, and is used by the above authorities including The Health and Safety
Executive, as well as manufacturers in America and Europe.
The Book (nicknamed The Bible is written as a
practical guide for both the ordinary farmer and the enforcement agencies, and
deals with all regulations from basic definitions to lighting requirements,
construction, driving categories and licences, age limits accident procedure,
red diesel, the carriage of dangerous substances and vehicle maintenance
etc.
The book is available at a cost of £15 each, plus p &
p, (reductions available for large numbers). Due to the loose leaf nature of
the publication it can easily be amended to ensure that you are kept right up
to date with any changes in the legislation. |
